Keep Calm and Carry On…

Arrival…

Hello, sweet friends…

I want to thank my husband Joe for encouraging me to take this trip to California. Solo

flying over San Francisco’s Bay…

🍁

(A trip I don’t usually make this time of year) As it turned out…everything has been fabulous and fun! so far…(thanks Joe!)

Come on let me show you around the place!

I thought I would share the trip in three parts…

Take out from the bar only…
Presidential Lounge

A view from my balcony…

beginning with my stay at the Historic Mission Inn Hotel located in Riverside, California.

One of many stained glass windows around the Inn…

Today’s post will show photos of the hotel and surrounding area. I hope you enjoy them!

St. Francis Chapel where Joe and I were married

The Historic Mission Inn occupies an entire city block in the heart of downtown Riverside.

To it’s guests and to the people of Riverside, the Mission Inn has always meant more than simply bed, bath and board.

It is a creative collection of arcades… gardens… flying buttresses…spiraling staircases… catacombs and towers.

It is also fine art and Spanish cannons, stained-glass and ceramic tile saints and dragons, bells and wrought iron.

The pool area…lapping in the life of luxury

No doubt the Mission Inn is seen by many locals as the revitalization of the downtown area.

I spotted a cat stretching on the canvas patio awning…

With it’s illustrious history as a home away from home for world leaders…celebrities…and discerning travelers who seek a luxurious and classically elegant place of refuge & renewal (moi)

To be continued…

Next stop a Downton Abbey Tea…

This architecture honors the Spanish/Mexican heritage of Southern CA so well. As part of my childhood growing up there I remember learning all about the missions and their influence on the indigenous population. This heritage is honored by the remaining adobe structures…Glad they are saved! My HS in Ontario and the house we lived in were also of this style. ;0)
