The Rhythm of My Heart

As I began writing an evening post, I’m amazed that it’s still light here. The sun sets close to 9:00 pm. And, since you are often on my mind I thought of you, and was wondering how your weekend went.

Here’s a share of mine before another week begins.

My friend JR and I started the weekend off with a fun day visiting the Charleston Marine Aquarium.

It was amazing. I suppose during this visit is when I realized there are so many things I don’t know about ocean life, and that now is a great time to learn.

I’m loving learning more about what goes on in the deep blue. Its really great to have such a fabulous resource close by.  If you’ve enjoyed the Monterey Bay aquarium in California, you won’t be disappointed with Charleston’s. This aquarium compares nicely with it. Perhaps you’ll find yourself along the Oregon coast this summer and can check it out.

Saturday I was all over the place. First I dropped in at the marina for the blessing of the fleet, and watched as flowers for loved ones were taken out to sea.

This was a very touching and beautiful experience.

Then I hopped in my jeep and drove over to the Coquille lighthouse.

I was hoping to climb to the top, however due to safety regulations the steps were closed off.

The history of the lighthouse is fascinating, and although it is no longer in commision there continues to be ongoing renovations.

I was told that most the lighthouse keepers had been men, with the exception of 2 women. Boy, now that would be an adventure!

Somewhere along the way I got starved stopped at the Farmers Market for a slice of veggie pizza, and four decadent cupcakes made by “The Rockin’ Rolling Pin” which is owned by Sara, and her daughter-in-laws Heather, & Kayleigh. Sara mentioned that she and her husband moved to the coast from Temecula, California. Small world.

Dont worry I didn’t eat them all. (grin)

One of the highlights of the weekend was of course being able to watch my husband participate in a 10k run. An event which helped out the local track team. I was so proud of him!

He came in 3rd for his age group. Yeah!!! The weather was kind to this former So. California gal and shined it’s glorious sunshine most of the weekend. I actually took the top down on my jeep! I must say it’s been so long that I forgot how to get it back up. I had to google it. Ha! Ha! This was indeed  a special “first” Memorial Day.

Spending time with friends, eating yummy food, and of course experiencing a little more this beautiful coast of mine.20160528_205124

I couldn’t ask for more.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend too.

See Ya!

Wonder what you could see if you could see through the water. All those sea creatures and their so strange skeletons! Our mysterious and wonderful world. Now if we could just get rid of that plastic patch the size of Rhode Island…

Hi Becky, what an adventure to travel under water. Oh, yes that plastic stuff would be wonderful to get rid of. There is a wonderful museum where I live called Washed Ashore. They gather trash found along the coast, and create art with it. They have workshops where you can volunteer to help create. It’s a wonderful educational program.

Thank you for that beautiful and inspiring post!
