My WeEk…OuR DrEaMs…OuR HoPeS…

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. I’m so happy to see you today my friend. Shall we have a little tea.

It’s early, early, early morning, right now.

And, I’m really glad that your on the “other” side of this screen…and aren’t able to see me with my hair pulled back in a ponytail, sipping tea, and eating the most delicious Austrailian strawberry red licorice from our local Trader Joes. I am seriously addicted to them, and today decided they’d make a fabulous breakfast. (grin) Well, so anyway, I’m glad I got that confession over with… because, I wouldn’t want you to think I’m little Miss Perfect health nut or anything like that.

So, anyway how was your Memorial Day weekend? I hope that you had the opportunity to spend some extra time enjoying family, and friends, or even perhaps just hanging out at home. Those are the best ways to spend any weekend, don’t you think…

Well, I k.n.o.w.  I’ll never forget this particular Memorial Day, since it was the day we signed paper work…

regarding the final sale of our charming cottage home in California.

(Bittersweet)

Yep.…as I sit here gobbling strawberry licorice sit here…our little cottage has begun it’s “Escrow”  adventure journey. Wish me luck, and say a little prayer. I promise to keep you informed in this next exciting chapter. It has arrived, as I knew it would. https://marciascottagebythesea.com/the-week-in-reviewdont-you-worry-about/   and again, just in case you are visiting Marcia’s Cottage for the first time, (what!!!) you can get to know me a little better here… ) Okay, so beside that being my big news for the week. I had the most delightful week. Anytime I can live my days in balance I’m a happy camper. So this week was balanced other than me eating a tub of strawberry licorice right now I gardened, baked, went on a day field trip with friends   (former teacher in me refers to day fun, as field trips) and purchased a piece of art. (just kidding about purchasing art…I think this licorice is getting to me. )

However, if I were to purchase some art, I know it would be painted with something symbolizing Home, Garden, and perhaps Friendships. Those are the Joys of my life. These things are all part of my dreams for living a  successful happy life. I’m pretty sure even as a young girl, this was part of my dream for the future.

I often try and figure out what brings you dear reader JoY too. So, I confess sometimes I sneek into my Google analytic stats to find out what your reading.

And from the looks of things,  it appears you love dreaming too. My Graduation post from June 2014, has received over 4,000 page views. You and I have lots in common. Our hope for the future. Btw…are you living the life you hoped, dreamed, and planned for back in high school? Many things have not turned out the way I thought they would, thank goodness! and a few things have turned out much better than I could have ever dreamed for. Such is life. And, now I’m off to begin another chapter. One that I have been dreaming about for some time. However, life won’t stop there, my dreams will keep on. I’m hoping that for you too…to keep on dreaming, hoping, and looking forward to living the life you want, and dream of. So, here is a flash back in time..Enjoy

“Graduation Day”

By Marcia Ren

Happy Thursday, and Happy Graduation to all the graduates out there. I wish you lots of happiness, success, and many JoYs on your journey in life.

Believe it or not, I still have my graduation cap, and of course my announcements. Oh,  and that cute little black hat. ..

well, of course that was the topper for my yummy graduation cake! Don’t ask me how I managed to save it all these years. I do know why though….. so that one day I could write about it! (Smile) No, seriously somehow,  I just managed to hold on to them. Sort of like how we hold on to our precious memories…. With care, protection,  and  lots of love.

And, as many tea parties that I’ve hosted…. I’ve yet to host a Graduation Tea. That’s too bad , because I would love to! If you were Graduating I’d love to host one for you!

I’d make it very special too…

Hmmmm.…. Let’s see, shall we have it outside …

I think perhaps a late afternoon tea would be lovely,  don’t you…. .. I hope you like the canopy. ..

You wouldn’t need to worry about a thing either…

Because I’m the queen of details.

Now,  if you’d rather sit inside… No worries…I have the perfect cottage parlor.

 Oh, and I hope you don’t mind….

I’ve already decided on the menu. …

Which includes the most delicious tea sandwiches ever!

You’ll remember it always….a Graduation Tea..♡

Gee,  seeing that hat after all these years… makes me kind of wonder….

What do you know… It still fits!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed your visit.

Xoxo. …

Here’s a perfect recipe for special dreams, hopes, and plans for the future…

CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONES

2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate morsels
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons cold water

Preheat oven to 350

Sift the dry ingredients together. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in the butter until crumbly. Beat the egg and milk together. Pour into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough is formed. Add the chocolate chips, combining well.
using an ice cream scoop, form the scones and place on a greased baking sheet. Beat the egg yolk with the cold water. Using a pastry brush, glaze each scone with this mixture. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve hot or cold with jam and clotted cream, (if desired) (grin)

And, of course here’s my WIWOF vlog…I’m off to find a wedding gift!
