A Fall Marathon

“Perform every act in life as if it were your last” – Marcus Aurelius Hello, sweet friend…how are you? 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️ It’s late as I sit down to write today’s post …My very dear friends just left from a night of chatting…eating pizza…& playing cards… 🏃‍♂️ Ironically when I returned to work on my post…I noticed an email from another friend who mentioned she was going to be in the area in the morning and wondered if she might stop by… 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ That being said I decided to just share some pretty eye candy with you from a little getaway I took last week…and then head on to bed… 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ We took a mini getaway to Eugene where Joe prepared to run the Pacific Northwest Marathon which was being held in a small charming town called Coburg. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ While Joe ran the marathon … Continue reading

A Sense of Belonging

“The heart wants what it wants.”Emily Dickenson Hello, sweet friend… This week marked two weeks since we moved into our 1927 Cape Cod home… a home I knew from the moment I walked through the doors… It would be the perfect place for sharing special times with family and friends. From the first glance I envisioned early morning walks in the neighborhood… meandering through my garden… Evenings spent in cozy rooms… a home where countless dreams and memories could be made… Yes this home…would be a perfect gathering place. That being said…and amongst the fact that I’m still sifting through boxes…unearthing treasures…organizing…(carefully deciding where things will go)… I am comfortable in these new surroundings…every nook and cranny is becoming familiar… like a blossoming new friendship. It feels like home…

R.I.P. MacKenzie💕

Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again.💕 Hi my name is Joe and I want to relate a story about our cat MacKenzie. MacKenzie had come to us 11 months ago because he was a neighborhood cat that Marcia just felt a lot of empathy and pity for. He didn’t seem to have any home… he just was wandering the neighborhood. MacKenzie just really had a big impact on Marcia and she just felt like she got a special emotional bond with MacKenzie… and said that MacKenzie did not have a good life…so she was going to give Mackenzie a good life and the first thing she was going to do was to give him a name. Marcia thought MacKenzie was a beautiful name for this cat…slowly Marcia just created a life for MacKenzie. MacKenzie was a street … Continue reading

The Making of a Home

“Home…a gathering place for family to join together in laughter. The one place you will always be surrounded by those who love you. A place or feeling of belonging.” -anonymous Hello, sweet friend… I am just returning from the premier of Downton Abbey any chance you too went to see it? I’m now reflecting on the question: “What makes a house a Home?” In many ways… homes embody how we live and see ourselves… spaces which evolve when we focus on what makes us happy… and then creating a place of comfort… enriching our lives in the process. Home is a feeling. Without love it is just a house.

Home

A house is built with walls and beams…A Home is made with love and dreams–anonymous 🏠 Hello, sweet friend… 🏠 It’s been quite a week… Labor Day had a different reality this year as we moved into a new neighborhood. The home that motivated such a quick decision or so it appeared… was a home I believe I fell in love with when we first moved to the Oregon coast. I remember driving the country roads through a small town passing this pretty storybook house. Looking back now… I can see that was when the spark was lit… bit by bit… the vision of this beautiful home… it’s fascination seemed to follow me… A touch of whimsy…romance…flowers…an English garden…and naturally stories of other things… with a history held… To be continued…
