A Painted Cottage

“Home is the heart of life…Home is where we feel at ease, where we belong, where we can create surroundings that reflect our tastes and pleasures…Making a home is a form of creativity open to everyone.~Terence Conran Hi! How was your week? One of the highlights of my week was having the opportunity to paint en plein air for the first time.   The surroundings for this plein air was situated on a beautiful lush green golf course here on the Oregon Coast. The artists were invited to paint (as a fundraiser) and contribute to the gallery exhibit at a local hospital. I enjoyed the experience & I’ll share more with you later as time goes by and I become more acquainted with this art form.  however what I’ve really been thinking about this week is color and it’s effects on our surroundings. emotions I began looking at the colors I’m drawn to both in and outside my home environment. Without going into all of … Continue reading

The perfect combination of gorgeous weather along with the days being longer. A winning formula for taking walks. These walks are exhilarating. they enhance my creative juices. Ideas and thoughts often come to mind during this time. Sometimes I even feel a sense of guidance a loving hand  leading me toward living life more fully. joyfully With that said and with Mother’s Day just around the corner I can’t help but reflect on my own mother, who was a beautiful woman  Olga  and who inspired my life. I also reflected on the special gal friendships here, there & everywhere and right in the middle of one particular walk the idea of hosting a  garden lunch came to mind. I am excited to share it with you. So pull up a your wicker chair and come join in the … Continue reading

Reflections on Mother’s Day

Hi! Happy May! How was your week? I’ve got my May project going on.  Painting, still…and the next room of flooring scheduled for installation. So, that’s exciting! Do you have any plans for the weekend? I’m looking forward to a mini get away with my husband. We thought we’d go seaside exploring along the coast. These are vintage Tea sets from the 1940’s. I think they are so romantic. And,  with Mother’s Day just around the corner I’m stirred by the memories they conjure up.  It has been 5 years since I retired from teaching elementary school. And, almost every year beginning with the first until the thirtieth my class would celebrate Mother’s Day with a Mother’s Day Tea. The children would make special cards and set their desks like a fancy table. The tables were set with a plate of cookies, and a cup of tea. The mothers all enjoyed … Continue reading
